THE LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AMONG ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS IN POST -BASIC EDUCATION SCHOOLS IN THE SULTANATE OF OMAN

This study aimed to identify the level of awareness of social responsibility among 11th grade students in the post-basic education schools in the Sultanate of Oman. To achieve the goal of the study, three tools were built: a test of knowledge, towards and a behavior of social responsibility. The three tools included three axes: the concept and importance of social responsibility, areas of social responsibility, and the role of institutions (governmental, private and civil) in promoting social responsibility. To verify the validity of the tools, they were presented to a group of experienced arbitrators (15 arbitrators), and their consistency was also verified by applying them to a sample from outside the study sample consisting of (38) 11th grade female students. The internal consistency coefficient was calculated by using the Alpha Cronbach equation in which the cognitive test scored (0.703), while the trend and behavior measurements scored (0.903) & (0.832) respectively. The tools were applied to a sample consisting of (912) male and female students from the governorates of Muscat and Dhofar. The study found that the general awareness level of social responsibility among the eleventh-grade students in post-basic education in the Sultanate of Oman was average, where the percentage of the general arithmetic mean for the three tools was (72.4%). The percentage of the arithmetic mean in the cognitive test was low (57.7%), while it was high in the trend measurement (81.6%), and was (78.03%) in the behavior measurement. The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the males and females’ means at the significance level (0.05). The study recommended that the level of awareness of social responsibility to be improved among students of the eleventh grade in the post-basic education in the Sultanate of Oman by enhancing the level of students' knowledge of social responsibility and their behavior towards social responsibility
