THE ROLE OF RURAL WOMEN IN POLITICAL PARTICIPATION AND DEMOCRATIC TRANSFORMATION.....AFIELD STUDYIN THE MEROE REGION..2018

The study dealt with the role of women in political participation and democratic transformation in the northern state-Meroi at approximately 300Km from Khartoum- The problem of the study in the weak participation of rural woman in political work and the democratic transition due to their preoccupation with the economic situation and helping men to improve their living burdens and their participation in agricultural work but customs and traditions took over. The study aimed to identify the participation of rural women in politics and the obstacles they study in revealing the results that reveal the non-participation of rural women in the democratic trasition that the country is going through after the December revolution. The study concluded the following results, the most important of which are :Women in the region do not practice political work in the required manner ‘but rather focus on working inside the home and helping men in agricultural work to reduce the burden of living’Thereis amale dominance over all political position in the region Rather political women are limited to voting in elections only.One of the most important recommendations is to educate women about the constitution and their role in political participation and decision –making ‘and their participation in elections so that the people choose whom they wish.
