THE DISCOURSE OF TOLERANCE AND INTERFAITH COEXISTENCE IN THE KINGDOM OF MOROCCO

In this research, focused on coexistence and tolerance between religions in the Kingdom of Morocco, a linguistic and semantic definition was given to the meaning of tolerance. This research also confirms that tolerance means mutual respect and not compromise or leniency, and illustrates that Islam and Quran called for tolerance. In fact, in this research we have shed the light on the fact that Islam was the first to call for coexistence and tolerance. We have illustrated as well the efforts extended by the Kingdom of Morocco in calling for tolerance, and we have referred therein to the His Majesty the King, Mohammed VI’s speech, especially the speech His Majesty gave during the Pope Francis Visit to the Kingdom of Morocco in March 2019. In this research we have focused on the content of the Royal speech and the strong meanings it contains regarding the importance of dialogue, coexistence and tolerance between religions, all within a context of a comprehensive humane brotherhood.
