THE QUR'ANİC TEXT İS A RENEWED SCİENTİFİC READİNG WİTH ORİENTALİST DİMENSİONS (HİCHAM JAAIT AS A CRİTİCAL ANALYTİCAL STUDY MODEL)

This study aimed to highlight the Quranic text under the oppression of Western modernist ideology, and alerting the Islamic mind to the danger of these studies that distorted its purposes, by highlighting and viewing HICHAM JAAIT’s contemporary reading of the Holy Quran. Moreover, to draw attention to his Western Orientalist background by revealing the features of Orientalist influence in his new reading of Islamic heritage and identifying and discussing its intellectual and methodological contradictions. In addition, this academic work aims at realizing and achieving a set of objectives, which are studying the Quranic text considering a pillar that works on shaping and establishing the Arabic Islamic Nation is thinking and its consciousness. Besides that, revealing Western dependence in contemporary Arab thought and the extent to which Arab modernist readers are influenced by Western oriental approaches and methods, this idea manifested itself on identifying the applications of contemporary Western scientific approaches to Islamic religious texts, including Hisham Jait as one of the most notable models, it is also working to open new prospective to reread the Islamic religious text according to the legitimate methods and controls stemming from the Arab-Islamic environment in light of diligence and renewal.The issue behind this study is to revolve around Hicham Jaait’s reading of the Quranic text according to contemporary scientific mechanisms, being him a modernist thinker specializing in Islamic history who the traditional fundamentalist readings of the religious text. We therefore address the formulation of the problem as follows: To what extent is Hicham Jaait influenced by oriental thinking in his contemporary reading of the Quranic text? Where were the overlaps and similarities been reflected in his reading of the Holy Quran with the Oriental Studies? What are the cognitive and methodological takeaways, criticisms and contradictions of Jaait’s new reading of the religious text?.
